WWE Royal Rumble: 10 Most Criminally Overlooked Matches
9. The New Foundation Vs. The Orient Express - 1992
In what will become a theme of this article, here is an undercard tag team match featuring some midcard performers desperate to make a statement and produce on a big stage. Owen Hart's teams with Koko B Ware and his brother Bret are well-known, but few remember his short-lived tandem brother-in-law with Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart. That's probably partly down to the lack of parrot (as with High Energy) or CV of Five-Star matches (as with the Hart Foundation), but The Rocket and The Anvil did have one standout match, against the Orient Express at the 1992 Rumble. Of course, the '92 Rumble is most famous for it's titular match and Ric Flair's landmark WWF Title win, but the undercard is nothing to scoff at. The Orient Express (one of WWE's most underrated teams) had a bona fide barnburner against The Rockers in 91, but that is a match that gets a lot of love - this one, not so much, which is why I've chosen to highlight it. Owen was typical Owen, flying around the ring at an incredible speed, Neidhart brought his power game and the Orients worked like a well-oiled machine, cutting the ring in half and keeping the match ticking along nicely. The crowd were with them every step of the way and the New Foundation finish went down a treat. A hell of a match to kick off a fantastic PPV, you really should check this one out - and then stay around for the next couple of hours and watch the whole thing.
