WWE Royal Rumble: 10 Most Criminally Overlooked Matches

10. Edge Vs. Rey Mysterio - 2008

Edge and Rey Mysterio, two stalwarts of the Smackdown brand, found themselves facing off over the World Heavyweight Title on the undercard of the 2008 Royal Rumble PPV. The two former team mates had crossed paths before, mainly in tag and multi-man situations, but this was their first real big one on one encounter. The question was, could the two men deliver? Thankfully, they did, making up for the poor JBL/Chris Jericho match that had went on before them. The two clearly had chemistry with each other, evident from the first smooth exchanges, with Mysterio coming out on top early on. Unfortunately, while Mysterio was shining, he was also getting booed by the MSG crowd. Those New Yorkers, eh, what are they like? It didn't faze the master of the 619, however, who fought back after Edge took control and targeted Rey's notoriously brittle knees. As the near falls came thick and fast, the Rated-R Superstar's love interest, Vickie Guerrero, entered the ring and ate a 619 for her troubles. Even though she had to take one for the team, it seemed to have done the trick - Vickie's distraction put Rey off enough so that her beau could nail him with a mid-air spear for the duke. It was a little short at just under thirteen minutes, but it was energetic and had a hot finish.
