WWE Royal Rumble: 10 Most Criminally Overlooked Matches

7. The Quebeccers Vs. Bret & Owen Hart - 1994

'An that's why I kicked your leg out of your...leg'. The infamous, oft-mocked words of Owen Hart, following his heel turn on big brother Bret following their loss to the Quebeccers at the '94 Royal Rumble. Everyone remembers the siblings' classic contests against one another, but fewer folk are ready to sing the praises of the matches they had when they were tagging. Which is a shame, really, since they had some absolute doozies, including this one. The '94 Rumble was hardly a great one, with a pretty weak undercard and an absolutely farcical casket match between The Undertaker and Yokozuna. Luckily, the Hart boys, Jacques Rougeau and Carl Oullett had their working books with them, producing a well-worked fifteen minute match that provided both entertaining in-ring action and storyline advancement. The finish is a big naff, with The Hitman's knee buckling as he himself applies a Sharpshooter, causing the ref to stop the match. If I was Owen I probably would have kicked his leg out of his leg, too! But the weak conclusion doesn't take away from the stirring contest that proceeded it. The psychology, the timing and everything else was bang-on.
