7. Ryback
The last six months or so have seen Ryback rise through the ranks of WWE at a meteoric rate. The former Skip Sheffield debuted as Ryback and spent what seemed like an age squashing local wrestlers just to make the point that he was a bit strong and had big old muscles. Then after a couple of insignificant victories over the likes of The Miz and Jack Swagger, suddenly he was number one contender for CM Punk's WWE title. WWE were forced into playing their hand early due to an injury to John Cena, but even by their standards this was a mega push. But Ryback was never going to take the belt off CM Punk. Three PPV losses later and he is in a sort of feud with The Shield (more on them later). He is still billed as a fearsome monster, but he was outwitted by CM Punk and has been foiled by The Shield on numerous occasions. WWE clearly like what they see in him, and he needs a big win to establish himself. Therefore they might just give him the Royal Rumble victory. If he was to win he would surely be shuffled over to the World Heavyweight Title picture instead of returning to the WWE title. The World Heavyweight picture is in flux a little at the moment: Big Show took the belt off Sheamus, but was only ever a - crushingly dull - transitional champ. Del Rio then beat him for the title on Smackdown, and they will now face each other at the Royal Rumble. Yet rumours continue to surface that WWE are planning on re-introducing both Sheamus and Randy Orton into the title picture. So where would Ryback fit in? If Big Show were to take the belt to Wrestlemania, then I could certainly see him putting over Ryback to give the latter his breakout moment. How he would fit in with any of the others is debatable. But one thing is for sure, WWE want to keep Ryback at the forefront of their product, and nothing would do that like having him stand tall at the end of the Royal Rumble.
