4. What Kind Of Match Will The Tag Champs Cody Rhodes & Goldust Be Involved In?
The tag division is loaded with quality teams, but at this point there is nothing confirmed. My hope was for the Real Americans to emerge as the next contenders and possibly champions. That doesn't appear to be the case now, at least for the Rumble PPV itself. Where things could end is with the New Age Outlaws (Billy Gunn & Road Dogg) as the top contenders. They turned heel on CM Punk on Raw, so that could have been done to give them more of a push as a regular team. Even though Gunn recently turned 50 and Road Dogg is 44, they're still a solid team that knows how to get a crowd reaction whether it's good or bad. There have also been rumors that Cody could be wrestling against Goldust at WrestleMania. If that were to happen, the seeds for one of them to turn heel (likely Goldust since Cody turned face last July) could be planted here. It could be a situation where there's some kind of mixup in the match with Cody accidentally hitting a Disaster Kick on his brother, Goldust not being happy about it and then one of them gets pinned to lose the tag titles. The Cody Rhodes/Goldust team has been outstanding since they started teaming in the fall. At some point, every great team comes to an end. Their match at the Royal Rumble (assuming they have one) could be that point for them.
