WWE Royal Rumble 2014: 10 Reasons The Undertaker Might Return

2. To Challenge Cena For The Championship

john-cena-wwe-champion One match that absolutely has to happen at a Wrestlemania is Undertaker vs Cena. They are two massive WWE stars who have rarely crossed paths in the last decade. When they eventually do on a grand stage it will mean more than any other WWE main event has done in years. There is the added edge that Cena is arguably the only real conceivable threat to the streak - a WWE man to the core who has carried the company for much of the last half decade. He could be the man to end the Undertaker story in McMahon and Calaway's eyes. Even if it is to lose to Undertaker, Cena needs to meet him at Wrestlemania. Royal Rumble 2014 could facilitate this. Cena beats Orton for the title, Taker wins the rumble - Cena vs Undertaker is on. Alternatively, Undertaker could appear at Royal Rumble simply to signify to Cena he is next. Cena could lose to Orton and then Undertaker comes out to stare the beaten Cena down ... and probably do the Wrestlemania sign pointing spot that WWE loves so much. Regardless of the way WWE executes it, if they are thinking of a Taker vs Cena match for Wrestlemania 30, then the Royal Rumble would be a more than appropriate place to develop this angle.
