So we come to the ultimate reason I expect an Undertaker appearance at Royal Rumble ... to initiate his rumoured Wrestlemania program with Brock Lesnar. This match is years in the making. WWE planned it as far back as 2010 when they had Taker stage a face off with Lesnar at a losing performance in the UFC. They will now look to cash in on that angle and the worked heat between The Deadman and The Beast. How best can they formalize this feud into a match? The answer is simple - have both men clash in the Royal Rumble match. It makes perfect sense. Lesnar at the turn of the year stated he was going after the WWE Championship. Expect him to dispatch of Big Show and then enter the Rumble. Lesnar should then dominate, rampaging through opponents like he did in his early UFC performances. Then the bell strikes and the lights go out. Taker returning to stare down Lesnar would get one of the pops of the year, undoubtedly being the moment of the entire Rumble event. The two giants would then engage in a brawl, with Taker eliminating Brock. The need for a Mania match is established. Lesnar wildly swings back in to pull Taker out as well, brawling out into the stands. We could well see it go down Sunday. How else could WWE set it up? A random confrontation on Raw? For my money it makes way more sense to do this in the heated situation that the Royal Rumble provides. Whether or not WWE is thinking along the same lines remains to be seen ... but whatever you do, don't miss the Royal Rumble this weekend on pay per view. Surprises and shocks are the one thing we can almost always be assured of at this mega event.
