Brock Lesnar Vs Big Show

Before getting to the action we got Paul Heyman interviewed by Renee Young. It was the usual Heyman promo saying how brutal Lesnar is going to be. Next up, the WWE guest panel analyse the action so far, Josh Matthews with Jim Duggan, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair. HBK put over Bryan and backed him to bounce back as a huge star, which was odd considering they were feuding at last recollection. On with the Big Show and Lesnar match. The Giant was out first followed by Brock and Heyman, and before the bell even rang, Brock shot in the ring, took Big Show down and started pounding on him. This is exactly what Lesnar needs to be €“ brutal. Why the ref didn't ring the bell to start the match (as usually happens) was questionable, but the brawling continued before Heyman threw Brock a chair. The former UFC Champion then proceeded to obliterate Show with chair shots. Eventually the ref rang the bell to start the match, and Big Show hit the KO punch right away as Lesnar tried to hit another chair shot. The psychology was all a bit off here €“ why the match didn't start at Lesnar's initial takedown and why Lesnar tried to get DQ'd as soon as the bout had started (despite having weakened Big Show) didn't make a whole load of sense. Despite the punch, Lesnar sold (brilliantly) before shaking it off and hitting an impressive F5 in under 2 minutes. Following the pin, he then hit just under 20 more chair shots to the battered giant €“ hard, unforgiving, chair shots at that. Winner: Brock LesnarAnalysis: 60% As a match it was basically two spots €“ a punch and an F5. What a spot that F5 was though. The real story was the bigger angle, Brock coming in like an absolute animal just savaging Big Show's carcass. The chair shots had no restraint and Big Show was undoubtedly hurting, as the welts on his back would attest to. It worked well in getting Brock over, who according to Paul Heyman is now in line for a title shot. As Lesnar refused to stop hitting chair shots after the match I did wonder if Undertaker would make the save. It wasn't to be though €“ Lesnar eventually walked away and that was that. It was a bit odd that they didn't have a bit more of a match I guess, perhaps this didn't even count as one of Brock's contracted matches. It was basically an angle.
