9. Jeff Hardy Or Kurt Angle Will Be A Surprise Entrant
Every year, WWE makes sure to stick a few surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble - usually stars from the past who either return for a nostalgia pop or to start new tenures with the company. Two former WWE Champions - Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy - have expressed interest in returning to WWE, and a return in the Royal Rumble (especially one for that same championship) could be the perfect place to bring them back to television. Just like Anderson and Gallows, though, Hardy and Angle have other commitments to finish up before they can think about wrestling elsewhere. Beyond that, each man's situation is very different - Hardy is only 38 years old and has seemingly gotten the better of his long-standing substance abuse issues, making him a good candidate for a WWE return (though he's also working on an injured leg). Angle, on the other hand, is 47, and while he has similarly made great strides in his battles with addiction, he has suffered many well-publicized injuries that have greatly damaged his body. Angle reached out to WWE about a reduced-schedule return last year, and Triple H reportedly wasn't interested. Only time will tell if and how Angle and Hardy return to WWE (in Angle's case, a position as a trainer might be more likely), but their triumphant comebacks won't be on Sunday.
