WWE Royal Rumble 2016: 10 Last Minute Rumours You Need To Know
8. Shinsuke Nakamura Will Be A Surprise Entrant
The only native talent of the "New Japan Four," Shinsuke Nakamura's defection to WWE was a shocking turn of events that made mainstream headlines in Japan. Nakamura debuted with New Japan as a 22-year-old young lion, then became the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion in history the following year. More than a decade later, he's decided to take a chance and see if he can achieve similar success in the largest wrestling company on Earth. As the reigning IWGP Intercontinental Champion, Nakamura was scheduled to spend a few months in New Japan wrapping up his tenure; in fact, an angle was even shot setting up a title match with Kenny Omega for February's Pay-Per-View event. News later broke that Nakamura would only stay with the company through the end of the month, and he was then stripped of his championship. Nakamura's expected WWE debut may have been pushed up once, but it won't happen again. He's booked on New Japan shows through January 30, even working a Fantasticamania show the same day as the Rumble (and yes, time zone differences mean he could work both shows, but let's be realistic). Furthermore, Nakamura is expected to spend some time at WWE's Performance Center getting acclimated to the company's style before he ends up on TV - in other words, don't expect to see him until after WrestleMania.
