WWE Royal Rumble 2017: 10 Superstars We Actually Want To See Win
6. Sami Zayn
The perpetual underdog feels more than a little underutilised in WWE as of late, barely gaining traction on the main roster after his Match Of The Year with Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Takeover: Dallas back in the spring. He had a little feud with Kevin Owens that failed to reach its full potential but has been floundering in the mid-card for the past few months, only achieving relevance again in a 10-minute time limit match with Braun Strowman at Roadblock: End Of The Line.
So how do we kickstart the Zayn train? It’s simple. Give him a bloody big win. There’s no easier way to both shock the smart audience and give them what they want by Zayn earning himself a shot at the WWE Universal title against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania. The former brothers turned enemies have a long and storied history, and the months of build-up to Mania would be the stuff of sports entertainment fairy tales. Zayn doesn’t have to win, but it would set him up for life in Vince’s Playhouse.
