1. Goldberg

On the other hand, if either of the two monsters are likely to win the Royal Rumble, it's Goldberg.

Goldberg returned to the ring in dominant fashion this past November, squashing the previously unbeatable Brock Lesnar inside of two minutes. Knowing how WWE typically books a mega-push (see Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX followed up by SummerSlam 2014), Goldberg could very well add to his impressive resumé by winning the 2017 Royal Rumble.

In terms of establishing Goldberg as a major force in WWE, beating Lesnar was enough. Beating Lesnar in under two minutes was even better, and eliminating Lesnar to win the Royal Rumble would be the icing on the cake,

For the older fans that saw WCW in its prime, they know how exciting a dominant Bill Goldberg can be. Heading into WrestleMania 33, the biggest show of the year, wouldn't WWE want to keep arguably their hottest superstar white-hot? Well, winning the Royal Rumble would sure go a long way for Goldberg's momentum heading into the Show of Shows.

At the same time, the scenario of Goldberg and Lesnar eliminating each other is not only a possibility, but the outcome everyone expects. Goldberg/Lesnar III doesn't need a world title attached to it, but if Goldberg were to win the Royal Rumble followed by Lesnar winning the Universal Championship, it would make their third, and perhaps final encounter that much more special.
