WWE Royal Rumble 2017: 10 Things To Expect

5. Steve Austin Stuns

Steve Austin shows up on Raw fairly often...or at least after Raw fairly often these days, but he takes himself out of storylines completely. It’s probably time to fix that.

No, as much as we want to see it, just like Michaels, Austin isn’t going to step back into a wrestling ring, even if it is in his home state. And even if he was open to the idea, he’d need more than three months notice to get into ring shape, and for the company to build a compelling opponent for him.

That doesn’t mean he can’t add to the show. Austin is one of the biggest names the company has ever seen, and he’s still widely loved throughout the wrestling world, especially in his own backyard.

You know the bit, but it always works; a heel comes out, runs down Texas, Austin comes out, toys with them a bit on the mic, gives them a Stunner, drinks some beer and calls it a day. It’s a simple, but classic formula that always works. Expect to see some form of it go down at the Rumble.

Perhaps only one more Texan could stir more interest than Austin and Michaels for the event...

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
