WWE Royal Rumble 2017: 10 Things To Expect

6. An HBK Cameo

You just can’t have the Royal Rumble in Texas and not have Shawn Michaels show up in some form! If he’s not at the show, it would actually be a bit of a shocker.

While HBK may yet leave his home in Texas to go to Florida to become a lead trainer in NXT, he’ll forever be linked to the Lone Star State. He was born in Arizona, but he grew up in San Antonio, and lived there throughout most of his life. He considers himself a Texan.

Working in WWE’s favor, is that an appearance from Michaels appearance still means something, as he so rarely shows up on TV. He still brings in quite a bit of fan interest, and he could take part at a few key events in the area before the show to help try and make it a bigger success.

It would be preferable to announce him ahead of time as part of the show, perhaps as a guest referee or something. Just don’t expect him to step into the ring once more.

While HBK alone probably won’t sell out the Alamodome, he may have some help from a few fellow Texans to at least make it a possibility...

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
