WWE Royal Rumble 2018: 10 Things WWE Got Right

The Usos vs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin was a sleeper hit on the Rumble card. Going in, one might've been forgiven for thinking WWE would plonk the SmackDown Tag Title bout on the pre-show and wash their hands of it. That didn't happen, and the match ended up being an asset to the show rather than a hindrance.

Gable and Benjamin have formed an excellent team out of American Alpha's ashes. Whilst Jason Jordan plays Kurt Angle's son on Raw, Benjamin has replaced him successfully and the team harks back to his time teaming with Charlie Haas. Best of all (and not unlike the World's Greatest Tag-Team), Gable and Shelton can be comprehensively beaten without losing face.

They went down 2-0 at the Rumble, and yet they're still in the mix for the SmackDown Tag belts. That's the sign of a good team. WWE's decision to avoid the usual sudden death scenario in '2 Out Of 3 Falls' matches was also the right one here too. It felt like a breath of fresh air.
