It's only taken WWE the best part of a full year, but they've finally decided to take the training wheels off Shinsuke Nakamura. Fans who watched Naka light up NJPW for years must have been scratching their heads at how he came across before the Rumble. Aside from strong matches against John Cena and Randy Orton, what had Nakamura done of note since joining SmackDown?

That confusion disappeared in an instant on Sunday night.

The reaction to Shinsuke's Rumble win was huge. There was a sense of relief washing over the man's biggest supporters, chiefly because the win represents a show of faith that's been waning in recent months from WWE higher-ups. It also means we're getting that AJ Styles vs. Nakamura WrestleMania match after all.

WWE came through for Nakamura in a big way at the Rumble. He was booked to look like the man by eliminating Roman Reigns and came across like a genuine star when pointing at the 'Mania logo.
