Eurgh, I can’t believe I’ve typed that.

WWE has booked themselves into an almighty corner with the WWE Championship situation. AJ Styles is set to defend the most prestigious title in professional wrestling against both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a handicap match. The only plausible outcome has to be a win for the Canadians. Owens and Zayn are two of the finest wrestlers on the planet: how could they fail to beat one man?

AJ Styles is the right man to hold the title right now, so somehow Owens and Zayn must contrive to lose from a position of absolute power. This feud has been more about Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan so far, so the SmackDown authority figures will obviously be involved on Sunday night.

Somehow, Shane must help AJ Styles retain the belt. How? I have absolutely no idea, but it should happen. A big tag team match at WrestleMania 34 may well be on the cards, and Shane’s interference here will continue the story ahead of the Show of Shows. It gives KO and Sami an out, while keeping the belt on the best wrestler on the roster.

WWE has somehow contrived to make a mess out of a feud featuring three of its best wrestlers. Go figure.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
