WWE Royal Rumble 2019: 10 Things We Learned

2. Drew McIntyre Will Have To Wait

Fans of burly Scottish muscleman Drew McIntyre may not be doing any rejoicing.

McIntyre, who was installed as a plausible contender to win the men's Rumble, will have to play the waiting game for his own World Title aspirations. It'll happen at some point this year, surely, but probably not before the summer. For now, WWE appear to be going with Rollins vs. Lesnar, and there's no invite for big Drew.

Will that change once Elimination Chamber is out of the way? Possibly, but WWE don't need to do a Raw Chamber match now; it's different over on SmackDown, because there's no fresh contender for Daniel Bryan's title. On Raw, the Rollins vs. Brock match already has a tasty feel to it, and it fits Lesnar's recent history of exclusively wrestling smaller, agile workers.

Though he can shift as well as anyone, McIntyre doesn't fit that mould. Therefore, WWE may want to hold off on his push and kick things into high gear once Seth slays 'The Beast' in New Jersey. Rollins vs. McIntyre at SummerSlam would make sense.
