Give the men's Royal Rumble field a quick once over and you may notice that the match had 11 SmackDown stars, 15 Raw ones, three NXT standouts and free agent Jeff Jarrett. Of those 11 blue brand troops, three were New Day members and most of the others were part-time attractions like Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy or Randy Orton.

In short, there's a quite criminal lack of depth on Tuesday nights.

This touches base with the previous point as well, because it stands to reason that super-worker AJ Styles will need somebody to work with post-Daniel Bryan, and the WWE Champ will require a fresh opponent too. That, dear reader, should mean good things for NXT's Johnny Gargano, Aleister Black and Pete Dunne.

That trio would all be considered interesting additions to the SmackDown ranks, should WWE deem it. Of course, Dunne would still have to continue his NXT UK work, but he could pull double duty there. Black and Gargano, meanwhile, are a must.
