WWE Royal Rumble 2019: 10 Things We Learned

5. WWE Should Avoid Having Four Announcers

This is not an excuse to blast Jerry 'The King' Lawler or JBL for their performances during the men's Rumble match.

In fact, both sounded upbeat, happy to be back behind the commentary desk and their banter did add some energy to the match. That was needed considering Corey Graves and Michael Cole had been burned out by a 4-hour plus show. WWE should've given one of those guys a little break.

Four announcers was overkill, to say the least. When JBL and King weren't talking over one another (their rustiness was to be expected), Cole was struggling to tie everything together and Graves, who's normally so solid, felt like an ill-needed fourth wheel.

The result was a busy commentary desk replete with too many voices warring to get a word in. Three announcers is often hard enough to produce successfully, so it's no wonder four was a bit of a jumbled-up mess.
