Despite retiring from in-ring competition permanently in 2011, Edge returning at this year's Royal Rumble is a rumour that simply won't go away. PWInsider has been fairly insistent that there's at least talk of it backstage, with Mike Johnson doubling down on his claims this week.

"I believe that Adam Copeland will be back on WWE programming by this time next week". Given the nature of the injury and the overwhelming number of denials, he's had plenty of opportunities to row back on the speculation, but mere days out from the event he, and his employers, remain convinced he'll be making a sensational return.

Of course, singing a new WWE contract and getting in the ring to spear Elias last year have only added fuel to this particular fire. Plus, the similarities between his and Daniel Bryan's respective retirements have allowed fans to idly daydream of an otherwise improbable comeback for another man who was forced to bow out at the very top of his game.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
