WWE Royal Rumble 2022: 10 Things That Must Happen
4. Roman Reigns Holds On
Cracks began appearing in Roman Reigns' dominance when Paul Heyman was torn from his side, and there's a sneaky sense that WWE are finally ready to try somebody else at the top of the SmackDown tree soon. It won't be Seth Rollins. Nope, nope, nope - it won't be Seth FREAKIN' Rollins.
Reigns has to hold that Universal prize until 'Mania.
His story has been almost two full years of control and command over Friday nights. If WWE even think about ending that on Saturday by giving the belt to another heel, then they're making a huge mistake. Roman has to come out of the Rumble with that strap over his shoulder.
Retaining without the aid of his cousins (who are banned from ringside) would be another power flex for the 'Tribal Chief' too. This feud hasn't been great, and it reeks of last-minute booking to plug a gap, but Reigns can still come out smelling of roses.
