Fightful Select's report that WWE had discussed the idea of bringing Ronda Rousey back, potentially for Royal Rumble 2022, was followed by Dave Meltzer all but confirming the story a few hours later. It now seems all but certain that The Baddest Woman on the Planet will enter the Rumble, win it, and challenge Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38, finally working the white-hot singles match originally booked for Survivor Series 2018.

It's a risky move that alienates anybody hoping for a fan favourite like Bianca Belair to take this year's Rumble. Nonetheless, Rousey remains a considerable mainstream star beyond anyone else in the company. If 'Mania needs a dose of star power (and interest outwith the wrestling bubble), she's the one.
