Picture the scene.

Rey Mysterio enters the Royal Rumble match and wows the crowd with his timeless, spectacular offence. He comes face to face with his estranged son. Dominik begs Rey to hit him. Rey refuses. He cannot bring himself to do it. They are separated by the melee combat of the field. Shortly thereafter, Rey has Sami Zayn slouched over the middle rope and blasts him with the 619.

Unbeknownst to Rey, Dominik is teetering on the apron, having nearly been eliminated by Sikoa. Zayn stumbles back, flailing, and collides with Sikoa, the force of which sends Dominik tumbling to the mat. He's gone. Rey, indirectly, has eliminated his own son from the Rumble match as, in the meantime, Zayn and Sikoa share harsh words over what is a misunderstanding.

Suspense. Soap opera storytelling. The moment that compels Dom to beat his father so badly (with a weapon obviously) that Rey must beat the sense back into him.

The moment that, in parallel, sparks the next big story beat in the Rumble match...
