WWE Royal Rumble 2024: 10 Things That Must Happen
Triple H has some HUGE decisions to make with both Royal Rumble matches.
Royal Rumble time is finally upon us, and Triple H has big decisions to make.
There's a lot going on in WWE-land right now. Rumours of The Rock flying in from Hollywood to steal a match with Roman Reigns from Cody Rhodes are rife, CM Punk is back on the roster making waves, and Seth Rollins might end up missing WrestleMania if he isn't careful. Let's just say Seth's ring work should be limited heading into April...or else!
Usually, there's one obvious candidate to win the men's and women's Rumbles, but that's not strictly true for 2024. Sure, both matches have a few favourites, but nobody sticks out as a 100% guarantee that everyone could confidently back at the bookies. This, as most fans will agree, is a good thing. A really good thing.
There are certain things WWE must get right on Saturday night though. 'Mania XL will depend on that, but Hunter's creative team has a golden chance to jumpstart someone's company career and pay homage to icons of the past on the same card.
Here's absolutely everything that must go down in Florida this weekend.
10. The Women’s Rumble Opens
Some won't want to admit this, but the women's Rumble is defo less enticing than the men's version this year. There's a sense that the entire women's spectrum across Raw and SmackDown is just sort of sitting around waiting for something major to happen; Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY need dynamic challengers aplenty, but don't really have them.
Bayley is vowing success, but so are names like Becky Lynch and Nia Jax. That's fun, but something feels a little off about the female side of things in early-2024. Both major belts need a bit of oomph heading in to 'Mania or they'll just be lower card distractions and nothing else.
One of the Rumble bouts has to kick things off on Saturday though, and this writer's pick would be the women's match. That'll get fans onside straight away, and it'll let WWE put space between both titular bouts by bookending the card with them.
Makes sense.
