OK, so yours truly knew exactly what he was doing by semi-teasing something DX-related there. Not quite. Instead, it's the one and only 'Stone Cold'. Is it too out there to envision Steve Austin eliminating CM Punk from the Royal Rumble in 2024? Maybe, but WWE also needs a contingency plan heading into WrestleMania.

There's always gonna be that threat of Seth Rollins being forced to miss out, so Triple H will need something else up his sleeve for Philly. Punk vs. Austin is precisely the kind of elusive blockbuster that'd put a smile back on fan faces if the more obvious Punk vs. Rollins had to be postponed.

Christ, they wouldn't even need to put a title on the line. That's how big this dream bout is - it'd be big enough to headline the first night of 'Mania XL, that's for sure. Punk would be happy enough with that, you'd imagine, because main eventing the show of shows is a bucket list item of his.

To do so vs. Austin? That'd be phenomenal.
