WWE Sabotage AEW Dynamite Tapings?!

Police tried to shut AEW's tapings down this week.

A wild story here, and one that should be taken with a pinch of salt, but EWrestlingNews.com are reporting that police tried to shut AEW's Dynamite and Dark tapings down earlier this week - with speculation that WWE was behind it.

The story about the police showing up came from Wrestling Inc., who claimed that AEW's "undisclosed" filming location was in Norrcoss, Georgia. For what it's worth, an anonymous source had previously reached out to WhatCulture with the same information.

A number of officers arrived on set and tried to get the tapings shutdown. Fortunately, AEW had its paperwork in order. They were able to prove that guidance relating to the ongoing global health crisis was being followed, hence production being allowed to continue, though state officials stuck around to make sure AEW wasn't breaking any rules.

The EWrestlingNews writeup states that "speculation among some talent was that WWE may have been behind the attempt." Again, pinch of salt, but they also point out the coincidence of the police showing up at the tapings just a few hours after the location had leaked online, leading to some wrestlers drawing the conclusion that somebody within WWE had tipped them off.

A stay-at-home order for the state of Georgia kicked in at midnight on Thursday. AEW has taped Dynamite through 15 April now, with this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter claiming they have another "backup plan" if they can't film on this week's set again.
