It's been years since people started discussing Dolph Ziggler as a future headliner in WWE. Nowadays, Ziggler is definitely in SmackDown's upper card, yet he hasn't been able to maintain a regular slot in the main event picture. Those woes continues on the most recent episode of SmackDown, Dolph looked like an also-ran at parts.

After Dean Ambrose had interfered in Miz TV and confronted both the host and AJ Styles, Ziggler emerged to even up the odds a little. From there, the babyface called out Miz and Styles for cheating to win, prompting The Miz to enter the ring and start fighting with Dolph.

Even though Ziggler had the upper hand (Miz had to first climb through the ropes to get to him), he ended up eating a Skull Crushing Finale. As if that wasn't bad enough, Dolph then tasted a Dirty Deeds DDT from Ambrose.

To recap, he had muscled in on the scene, talked a good game and then ended up suffering through two finishing moves that left him laid out on the canvas.
