WWE SmackDown: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (July 25)

4. John Cena Calling Himself 'Super Cena'

There was a time when John Cena detractors rolled their eyes as they bemoaned his 'Super Cena' antics and unrealistic comebacks during matches. The nickname was meant as derogatory, not as one WWE would ever use. That has changed though, because Cena himself slipped the 'Super Cena' name into his promo on SmackDown.

He only said it once, but it was definitely there. As Jinder Mahal was booked to stand idly by and watch his potential WWE Title challenger verbally lay out what would happen at SummerSlam should they meet, Cena claimed he would morph into his superhuman guise and beat Mahal easily.

Look deeper into the promo (or watch it multiple times) and it comes across as a shoot. This was like WWE's way of thanking Jinder for keeping the belt warm, but now Cena is back it's time to put it around his waist. Mahal wasn't even given a rebuttal or anything to keep him looking strong.
