WWE SmackDown: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (Nov 16)
8. Dolph Ziggler's Long Stare At The WWE Intercontinental Title Belt
In a match set up last week and used as a big selling point for SmackDown's 900th episode, Dolph Ziggler aimed to defend the WWE Intercontinental Title against The Miz. The longest match on the entire show, Ziggler vs. Miz ran for close to 20 minutes in total.
Before attempting to hold onto the belt, Dolph was shown sitting down on the bottom turnbuckle and taking a long look at the championship title itself. Whereas The Miz was cocky and confident, Ziggler looked pensive and unsure of himself as he stared longingly at the Intercontinental gold. That must have been deliberate.
The whole thing came across like Dolph was saying goodbye to the belt he just won on October 9 at No Mercy. Only JBL at the announce desk picked up on what Ziggler was getting at, he was throwing out a subtle hint that he'd be losing the title to Miz on SmackDown.
It must be frustrating for Ziggler to have the rug pulled out from underneath him so quickly, he lasted just over a full month in the hot seat.
