WWE SmackDown 1000: 10 Superstars Who Must Return
2. The Rock
From main-eventing the very first episode to his legendary feuds with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H, nobody personified the early years of SmackDown more than The Rock. Derived from The Great One's legendary catchphrase "Lay The SmackDown!", it's easy to see why the multi-time WWE Champion referred to the blue brand as his show.
If anybody could challenge The Undertaker as SmackDown's greatest star, it's The Rock. Though his longevity on the brand may not compare to 'The Deadman's, we can't overlook the fact that SmackDown may not be the success that it is today without The People's Champion. That surely earns him the right to appear on the 1000th episode.
He remained a part of SmackDown for the show's initial four years, before departing to the bright lights of Hollywood. Now, a major movie star, Dwayne Johnson lays the SmackDown on the big screen. Although his busy Hollywood schedule may prevent him from making a live appearance on SmackDown 1000, it would be nice to see him mark the occasion with a taped promo at least.
