WWE SmackDown 1000: 10 Superstars Who Must Return
1. Edge
Edge made a name for himself during the early-2000s, dominating the tag team division with Christian. When the brand extension took place in 2002, he was placed on SmackDown where he went on to become Tag Team Champion with Hulk Hogan before moving out of the tag team division and emerging as a strong solo competitor.
Though he went off and made a name for himself as a headliner on Raw, Edge would return to SmackDown in 2007 when he cashed in the Money In The Bank contract on The Undertaker to steal the World Heavyweight Championship. This would kick-start a year-long rivalry with both 'The Phenom' and Batista as the fan-favourites tried to take the gold away from the 'Rated-R Superstar'. He then went on to have multiple successful World Title reigns and feuded with the likes of Triple H and Kane during his later stints on the brand, before ultimately retiring in 2011.
Undoubtedly the greatest heel champion in SmackDown history, Edge was one of the men responsible for the show's major success in the late-2000s, and there are few people who deserve to be featured on the show's 1000th episode more than he does. After all, a special instalment of "The Cutting Edge" would certainly be a nice way to mark the occasion.
