WWE Star Rey Mysterio Debuts For AAA In Video At TripleMania

WWE will be furious at breach of contract.

Rey Mysterio debuted for AAA on Sunday night, appearing in a video segment at the end of TripleMania. He made clear in the video that he'd be "returning soon" to the Mexican company. This is an obvious breach of Mysterio's contract with WWE. However, Dave Meltzer speculates on Wrestling Observer Radio that AAA may believe they got around Mysterio's contract by only playing the video in the TripleMania arena. It didn't go out over broadcast air. Still, f4wonline.com states that Mysterio doing even that much could provoke a legal response from WWE. The contract they have with Mysterio and the wilful breach by AAA is a provocative act. Mysterio has wanted out of WWE for some time, frustrated by injuries and his lack of action. He appeared in the AAA video wearing his mask and a sombrero, congratulating AAA on 22 years of success with TripleMania. A message was then shown saying "#FreeRey". The problem with AAA's booking of this angle is that WWE still have Mysterio under contract until April 2015. As badly as the star wants out, WWE are perhaps going to be more resolved than even in keeping him from leaving. "WWE is not happy with this," Dave Meltzer affirms on wrestling observer radio. Whether AAA receives legal action remains to be seen. They also debuted another contracted WWE superstar at TripleMania, Alberto Del Rio, who is still under a WWE no-compete clause despite his August 7th firing. It's pretty obvious that AAA are going after WWE in an aggressive manner, and the publicity generated has so far been a victory. Mysterio and Del Rio have put a lot of eyes on AAA, both in Mexico and the wider world.
