2. Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler - All They Need is Time
Its been awhile since Chris Jericho has competed as the good guy, and his recent turn is a great way to finish up his current run. Its also been too long since Dolph Ziggler has had a meaningful rivalry, or at least one that doesnt see him getting kicked in the face every night. Dolph Ziggler is a star - hes got everything a guy might need to become a mainstay atop the WWE ladder. By allowing him to secure the World Heavyweight Championship Contract briefcase at Money in the Bank, WWE stamped Zigglers ticket into the big leagues, and it appears theyre justifying it with big-time feud against one of the companys biggest stars, Chris Jericho. Jericho and Ziggler instantly displayed great chemistry together, and its been improving on a weekly basis. Both competitors are capable of stealing the show, and just like the title says - all they need is time. This is a great rivalry involving a grizzled veteran and a brash up and comer. If WWE is willing to give this match room to breathe and develop, you can bet Jericho and Ziggler will do the rest. Dolph Ziggler is being primed for his big moment, and like all good things, you dont want to rush it.
1. CM Punk Wins
Weeks ago during a backstage segment, Eve taunted CM Punk and reminded him that, despite being WWE Champion for over eight months, hed taken a backseat to The Rock, John Cena, John Laurinaitis, and The Big Show. Eve was right, but no one took the segment with very much weight. Fast forward to the closing of Raw 1000, and Eves words were resonating loudly as CM Punk viciously attacked The Rock and quietly walked away as the show went off the air. The character of CM Punk is conflicted - hes still the voice of the voiceless, but now hes doing things only a traditional bad guy would find himself doing. Punk wants the spotlight all to himself, and he believes hes justified, being the long-reigning WWE Champion. At Summerslam, CM Punk finds himself in a triple threat match with John Cena and The Big Show, and yet, hes still not the main event (or so we can assume, given the hype surrounding Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar.) Punks character is going through a dramatic, even confusing turn and the worst thing they could do to the companys number two (behind John Cena, of course) would be to clip his wings. CM Punk needs to hold onto the WWE Championship, at least through Summerslam, to maintain credibility and prove that his actions arent all just in vain. It may be hard to envision John Cena not only failing to win the title during his Money in the Bank cash-in, but losing this impending triple threat match as well, but it seems necessary to continue to build CM Punks character looking ahead to a necessary battle with The Rock. Who Punk pins and how he does it matter too, but the most important detail is simply a 1-2-3 in favor of the reigning WWE Champion. Agree with this list? Disagree?
