3. Kurt Angle And Rey Mysterio Had An Exciting Opener

A lot of the best PPVs have an opening match that is memorable. SummerSlam 2002 was no different. It was Rey Mysterio's WWE PPV debut. He was on fire as he took on arguably the best in the world, Kurt Angle. A lot of us figured Mysterio would go over because it was his first PPV match in WWE. That didn't happen, but that was okay because the match they had was excellent. Their contrast in styles made it fun to watch. Angle was known as a technical wrestler. Mysterio was a high flyer. Sometimes when different styles are in the same match the results are bad, but they were both good enough to make it work. Angle ended up grounding Mysterio and making him tap out to the Ankle Lock. The only major gripe for the match is that it only went 10 minutes. That's because it such a loaded card that they weren't able to give them more time, but if they did then the match would have been even better. It's still worth a re-watch, though.
