WWE SummerSlam 2014: 5 Winners And 5 Losers

2. Cesaro

How the mighty have fallen. Cesaro went from being a hot property, propelled by organic fan support into a higher profile with a big win at WrestleMania XXX and an association as a Paul Heyman guy. But somewhere along the way someone decided that wasn€™t the plan, crowd responses and talent be damned. Whatever the reason, he€™s fallen far than any other superstar since the WWE€™s biggest event. This is a guy who went from getting some of the loudest reactions on the card, vanquishing his former partner in short order, winning a prestigious battle royal at Mania and then being paired with Paul Heyman. This all felt like the natural progression was a break away from Heyman and a big star-making match vs. Brock Lesnar. Instead he€™s now losing to Heath Slater. At SummerSlam he was demoted to the pre-show, losing to Rob Van Dam of all people, a part-timer who the company has shown no interest in pushing due to his lack of long term commitment. The optimists among us would like to believe that WWE has big plans for The Swiss Superman, biding their time until they need to push him strongly again. But the overwhelming majority of fans who could generously be called pessimists fully suspect that he€™s floundering because the creative department has no idea what to do with him. And that€™s a shame because he€™s one of the most talented workers on the entire roster.
