Rusev and Dolph Ziggler have been thrown together in a strange romance storyline for months now. What started off as a relationship issue between Rusev and Lana has transformed into a prototypical 'new boyfriend versus jealous ex' storyline that has been seen many times before. Nevertheless, both men tried to make the best out of this storyline direction, but sadly it wouldn't work out.

Despite both men having great athletic skills, the crowd was apathetic for the most part. Maybe they were tired from the match that preceded it, or maybe they found this storyline (and its participating wrestlers) uninteresting. Whatever the reason may be, the audience didn't care for this match at all, not even for Ziggler's great selling or his special high-spots. In fact, the loudest reaction during this match and after it ended was for Lana, who was standing outside doing nothing for the most part.

The crowd booed when the match ended in a double count-out, and the subsequent multi-person brawl spoke volumes of nonsensical booking that didn't yield any kind of greater benefit to any of the participants.

Rusev and Ziggler need better feuds. Maybe new ones can start on the RAW after SummerSlam, and both of them can move onto something bigger and better.
