In a sense, it's a must that Rusev defends the WWE United States Title against Roman Reigns. This year, the man has been restored to his former glory. Creative pushed the reset button on the Bulgarian, realigning him with Lana and once again pushing him as a monster heel who was a threat to anyone on the roster.

Now, Rusev goes up against a man slightly higher than him on the WWE totem pole. Roman Reigns is a good match for the United States Champion, and many likely expect him to walk away from SummerSlam with the gold draped over his shoulder.

Reigns will probably win if the heel Seth Rollins becomes WWE Universal Champion later in the show. Having two heels in possession of the major singles titles on one brand is not something WWE have a history of.

Looking at the latest Raw, it was Reigns who looked dominant over Rusev, even beating him in a singles match. That may set the table for a Rusev win, gaining revenge on his rival and retaining the title in the process.
