WWE SummerSlam 2017: Best Booking Scenarios For Each Match
8. Naomi Handily Retains
Was this even a feud?
Natalya won a five-way elimination match at Battleground, but the interaction between champion and challenger has been pretty minimal since that point.
There's no way Natalya should win here. She's by no means a real threat. That's especially unfortunate because she is easily one of the best women's wrestlers in the company, but has been treated as a joke for years (Thanks, Vince).
Both of these women are more than capable of putting on a great match, however. If they're given enough time and breathing room, it might be enough to give the SmackDown Live women's division an injection of legitimacy it so desperately needs.
What would the absolute best case here be? Naomi planting the seeds of a heel turn. She always seemed more natural in that role, and SDL has a lack of mega-heels among the women. If WWE is sticking with their guns with Charlotte Flair in a face role, then Naomi could be the villain that opposes her. Or perhaps the winner of the Mae Young Classic could become a contender instead.
Also, with the Baron Corbin debacle being so fresh in everyone's minds, Carmella cashing in her briefcase really doesn't need to happen here quite yet.
