WWE SummerSlam 2018: 10 Things That Must Happen

9. Samoa Joe Comes Close

It'd take a brave person to bet against AJ Styles retaining the WWE Title at SummerSlam this year.

His involvement in 2K's 'Million Dollar Challenge' for 2K19 and his status as the game's cover star suggest there's life in his title reign yet. WWE will want Styles to cart that belt around with him when he's doing the media rounds to promote the thing, that's a no-brainer.

Styles' continued viability as WWE Champ doesn't mean Samoa Joe won't come close to taking it from him though. He's a shrewd follow-up challenger to AJ after Shinsuke Nakamura, and he's a realistic, credible threat to the crown. If nothing else, that should come into creative's mind when dreaming up a closing stretch for the match.

Should Joe come agonisingly close to taking the title from AJ, he can proceed with his quite stunning promos on SmackDown calling time on Styles as titleholder, and railroad the champion into a rematch. That can come either at Hell in a Cell or Australia's Super Show-Down.
