WWE SummerSlam 2022: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best
2. Universal Title: Roman Reigns (c) Vs. Brock Lesnar
Result: Roman finally triumphed over Brock by burying him beneath the wreckage of a table, retaining the title in the process (23:00).
Rating: As much as so many fans groaned about seeing Roman and Brock fight again, this was perhaps their most purely fun encounter and feels like a decisive way to close the book on their feud for good.
Rather than trying to be a serious Title Fight this was an absolute demolition derby and all the better for it. As lame as Brock dumping Roman into the ring with a tractor was, he more than made up for it by then tipping the ring into the air with it. Sucks for those in the crowd who had their views obscured, though.
You could call it overbooked, but honestly that's exactly what this needed - Heyman getting killed by Lesnar was great, as was the failed Theory cash-in, and Lesnar repeatedly surviving the 10-count by a hair.
The ending was a little odd, though: the referee really shouldn't have started counting while Roman and the Usos were still interacting with Brock. Even so, the outcome would still be the same, which was appropriate and again confirms Roman's dominance.
As for who could decisively topple him, besides Drew of course, remains a genuinely tantalising mystery. 7/10
