WWE SummerSlam 2025: 12 Nightmares That Could Come True
4. CM Punk Ends Up Injured
Look, this isn’t meant as a smarky takedown on Gunther as a pro. He’s clearly safe, but the powerhouse does work a rugged, intense and physical style that'd bring tears to the eyes of anybody who eats a few of his chops. During the build, it's become clear that Punk will want to look like a hero against the big Austrian, so he might suggest taking a few too many strikes and other moves during the match.
Watch that through cracks in your fingers.
Punk’s WWE comeback run has already been hit with devastating injuries at key times, and he doesn’t want another slice of that misfortune. He was also getting hurt during his stay in AEW due to a combination of ring rust and age. You've just got to hope they’re smart about this at SummerSlam, and that Punker doesn't encourage Gunther to make his chest into mince meat or hit him with powerbomb after powerbomb just so the veteran looks tough.
That'd be risking injuries, and it's fair to say that Punk has been dinged up in recent years. He'll have physical weaknesses which aren't conducive to wrestling the kind of brutally physical match Gunther likes. Saying that, CM did withstand a Hell In A Cell war with Drew McIntyre last year, so maybe this entry is doing him dirty.
It'd be really depressing if he couldn't keep up with Gunther's rapid fire striking style and took another injury though. Cross those fingers and toes that this is merely one fan worrying about the worst that could happen, and not a sign of things to come. No more muscle tears needed.
