WWE SummerSlam Live Review - 10 Interesting Observations You Need To Know

10. Don't Mention The Rock If He's Not Going To Show Up

Thanks to some comments from Roman Reigns last week, the rumour mill has been going into overdrive about The Rock appearing at SummerSlam. For a while there, it really did seem like The Great One would be making some sort of return in Brooklyn to set up a WrestleMania 32 match or to just have some fun with Jon Stewart (which seemed the most likely option to me at least), but as you'll already know, it didn't happen. SummerSlam's opening was fun, with Mick Foley's surprise appearance a definite highlight. As expected, the Hardcore Legend got a great response from the crowd, but having him mention The Rock was a mistake. That line was a perfect set up for him to appear, and the crowd around me literally got off their feet and started chanting "Rocky" seconds after Foley mentioned his name. Unfortunately, we all sat down pretty soon after when the segment abruptly wrapped up and it became clear that The Rock wouldn't be showing up as both Roman and the dirt sheets had indicated. I remained hopeful for around an hour that he might still appear, but the atmosphere definitely took a knock when his iconic music didn't hit as expected.
