WWE Super Show-Down: 7 Nostalgic Nods In The Undertaker/Triple H Match

4. Undertaker Blocking The Sledgehammer With Hell's Gate

After Triple H thought he had crushed 'The Deadman's throat with a steel chair (jeez, clam down Trips!), he tried to take it to the next level by targeting the seemingly helpless Undertaker with a sledgehammer. This sight was enough to give us all flashbacks to a lot of their previous matches, but what happened next helped us single out which one it was referencing.

Before 'The Game' got the chance to use the weapon, the supposedly lifeless 'Phenom' suckered him into the Hell's Gate submission hold. As Triple H desperately tried to break the hold, he raised the sledgehammer in the air and it was all very reminiscent of the ending of their WrestleMania XXVII match from 2011.

However, much like some of the other little Easter eggs, it didn't just tease us with the memories, it gave us a slightly different outcome to the scenario. HHH was able to successfully use the hammer to choke The Undertaker into releasing the hold. Shame you didn't think of that seven years ago Trips. Maybe the Streak would have ended a few years earlier if you had.
