WWE Super Show-Down: 8 Things We Learned
7. The Miz and Daniel Bryan's Rivalry Is No Longer A Priority
The Miz and Daniel Bryan's feud was one of the biggest programs of the summer. Eight years in the making, there was plenty of rich history to pull from and set up the match that we never thought we'd see. Though it hasn't been executed to perfection, it still felt as deep and personal as it should have been, with Miz cheating to garner a cheap victory over Bryan at SummerSlam.
This set the stage for Bryan to pick up a win of his own at Super Show-Down - which he did, but the execution of it was all wrong. Securing a quick roll-up win over The Miz is almost like beating him at his own game, and while that definitely works from a storyline standpoint, it's the implications of that win that don't bode well for this story.
The contest was a No.1 Contender's match, with the winner receiving a shot at AJ Styles' WWE Championship "sometime in the future". However, after Bryan's victory, we were immediately told that this dream match would be taking place next month at WWE Crown Jewel.
That, coupled with the fact that Bryan will meet The Miz one more time on SmackDown 1000 (not on PPV), suggests that WWE has shifted its priorities and has perhaps lost interest in the feud - focusing on Bryan's upcoming title match instead. This is a real shame because this long-awaited program will potentially end up looking like nothing more than a footnote.
