WWE Super Show-Down: 8 Things WWE Got Right

5. Hometown Heroes Get Their Wins

Being down under seems to have flipped one of WWE's most irritating conventions on its head. For whatever reason, the promotion sees to it that wrestlers performing in their home towns always taste defeat, not just looking the gift horse of an easy pop in the mouth so much as kicking it in the teeth. It's possibly (and at this stage, ironically) to prevent predictability - but given the company's track record, could just as easily be out of spite.

On Saturday, WWE saw sense, as all the Australians on the show walked away victorious. Buddy Murphy's Cruiserweight Championship victory seemed glued-on, but there were no guarantees that usual heels The IIconics would lap up the local's adoration. It perhaps didn't make entire sense for them to do so, but they did - playing pure babyfaces - and it ensured the crowd stayed on board.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
