WWE Super Show-Down: 8 Things WWE Got Right

2. The Cruiserweights Are Allowed To Cruise

Melbourne's Murphy was always guaranteed strong support from his loving public, but they could easily have cooled off between the bells. One of the biggest criticisms of WWE's Cruiserweight revival is that so often, super-talented high-flyers are effectively asked to work a WWE style, pointlessly pigeonholing them as lightweight heavyweights.

At Super Show-Down, Murphy and Alexander were allowed to perform an actual Cruiserweight contest, with psychology suspended below a string of captivating high-spots. Unlike many matches from the division, the crowd - already pre-invested in the bout - remained enthralled, popping like balloons in a drawing pin factory at the desired conclusion.

Incidentally, it's only the second time a WWE title has changed hands in Australia - fully thirty years after Velvet McIntyre captured Fabulous Moolah's Women's belt in Brisbane.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
