WWE Super Show-Down: 8 Things WWE Got Right

3. The Bellas' Subtle Strategy

The Bella Twins' sudden reinsertion into a women's division whose revolution and subsequent evolution was predicated on their departure has been cause of much recent hand-wringing. Brie nearly making good on tope suicida's name hardly helped matters - and nor did knocking Liv Morgan silly after booting her square in the mush.

The criticisms, though inevitably excessive, as per the internet outrage machine, have not been invalid, but there was nothing wrong with how the twosome were used on Saturday. Subtly building towards an eventual turn - almost certainly in time for Evolution - the duo depended on one another for the opening stretch of the match, avoiding reaching for Rousey when the Raw Women's champ could so easily end things in matter of moments (which she subsequently did). The Bellas' point? We're just as valid as you, and we don't need you.

Perhaps it was all unintentional, including Nikki slightly reaching for Ronda's belt after the bell; after all, WWE's storytelling tends to be as subtle as a mallet to the balls. Even if it was, there's plenty for the company to retcon ahead of the impending betrayal.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
