WWE Super ShowDown 2020: 5 Overlooked Positives

4. WWE Remembered How To Book A Perfect Goldberg Main Event Match

Hold your horses! It's not what you think...

The one thing about Super ShowDown that has already received the most criticism - and will continue to - is the creative decision to have Goldberg go over 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt, taking the Universal Championship from him and destroying his five-month reign of dominance. And you know what, all those criticisms are completely valid.

However, they're so valid that they're probably going to overshadow the fact that WWE actually learned from its mistakes at Super ShowDown last year and remembered how to book a proper Goldberg main event.

Last year's nine-minute disaster against The Undertaker would have worked against Goldberg in his prime simply because he only thrived in short bursts, but to expect him to do that in the unbearable summer heat of the desert while wrestling a fellow part-timer was just far too much. It made him look like a washed-up veteran long past his prime when a little smoke and mirrors could have wound the clock back two decades.

Look no further than his showing against 'The Fiend' for proof of that. Much like his redemption match with Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam last year, the pair's collision was brief, to-the-point and less-than-five-minutes which in all honesty are attributes of the perfect Goldberg match. And as a result, he looked every bit as dominant as he did in the late '90s, wiping away the blemish of that ill-fated match from last year.

It's just a shame that it had to end with him taking the Universal Title...
