WWE Survivor Series 1998: 5 Awesome Things And 5 That Sucked

2. The Lack Of A Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match

Every Survivor Series PPV from the first one in 1987 to 1997 featured at least one traditional Survivor Series match on the card. It's what the event was known for. Just like the Royal Rumble was known for a Rumble match, we expected a traditional Survivor Series elimination match every year. In 1998, because of the Deadly Games tournament, it didn't happen. It's understandable that WWE wanted the main focus on the show to be on the vacated WWE Title, but that shouldn't mean that they completely ignore the entire concept of what Survivor Series is. Maybe the Survivor Series name didn't mean too much to WWE management. To them, it could be seen as just another show. To the fans, though, we wanted to see at least one Survivor Series elimination match. Since they had the tournament going on they couldn't include a bunch of big name guys to be in the match, but they could have done something like include four tag teams in it or something to that effect.
